Star Brawl – Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 October 2026 · Last updated: 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information the game Star Brawl (the "Game", available as a web game and as a mobile app) handles. The Game is operated by Martin Kral ("we", "us"). You can contact us at martin.kral.03@gmail.com.
The short version
- There are no accounts, no sign-up and no passwords.
- We do not collect your real name, email address, phone number, location, contacts, photos or device identifiers.
- The Game contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking.
- To play with others, the Game sends game data through a third-party public messaging server (see below).
Information the Game handles
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Player name – a nickname you type (up to 14 characters). Do not use your real name if you do not want others to see it. | Shown to other players in the same room. | Saved on your device (local storage) so you do not have to retype it. Sent to the other players in your room through the messaging server. |
| Room code and game data – the 4-letter room code, your joystick/skill inputs, your ship's position and state, and match results. | To run a multiplayer match. | Sent through the messaging server to the host of the room and the other players. Not kept after the match ends, except that the server may briefly retain the lobby message of an open room. |
| Random session ID – a random string created each time the Game opens. | To tell players in a room apart. | Sent through the messaging server. It is not linked to your identity. |
| Technical data (IP address, connection time) | Needed for any internet connection. | Visible to the services you connect to (the messaging server and, for the web version, the website host). We do not receive or store it. |
Third-party services
- Public MQTT broker (broker.emqx.io, operated by EMQ Technologies). Multiplayer messages pass through this public service. Anyone who knows or guesses a room code could observe the messages in that room. Do not share personal information in your player name. Their privacy policy applies to their handling of connection data: emqx.com/en/privacy-policy.
- GitHub Pages (web version only). The web version is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses as part of normal web hosting: GitHub Privacy Statement.
The mobile apps include all game files locally and do not load third-party scripts, ads or analytics.
Cookies and local storage
The Game does not use cookies. It uses your browser's or app's local storage only to remember your player name.
Children
The Game is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). Players of any age should choose a nickname that does not identify them. Because the Game has no accounts, there is no personal profile that we could delete; if you believe a child's personal information has been shared, contact us.
How long we keep data
We do not run a database. The player name stays on your device until you clear the app's or browser's data. Match messages are not stored by us.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. You can remove your saved nickname at any time by clearing the Game's local storage or uninstalling the app. If you are in the EEA, UK or another region with data protection rights and think we hold information about you, contact us and we will respond.
Security
Game traffic uses encrypted connections (WSS/HTTPS). Because matches run over a public server and are not authenticated, treat everything you type in the Game as public to the players in your room.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. Material changes (for example adding ads, analytics or accounts) will be described here before they take effect.
